The Via Crucis path is the brainchild of the tourism association Proloco of Casale di Bismantova, which wanted to realize a design of sustainable tourism, emphasizing a wonderful territory by catching a glimpse of landscape in environmental degradation, due to the abandonment of man who for centuries cultivated the land.

Consisting of 14 stations made of ceramic plates and affixed to wood panels, the Via Crucis Path was inaugurated in 2012 and is today one of the most popular paths of access to Piazzale Dante, being its practicability for everyone.
